2012 Olympics  

The 2012 Olympics are underway!  Will you be watching?   I missed the opening ceremonies, but my husband, being a huge James Bond fan, made sure I got to see the Queen being escorted by 'James Bond'.   I may have to go online and check out the rest of the ceremonies.

Life has been pretty busy for me these last few days, so I haven't watched any of the events yet, but maybe I'll get some time this week.    

However, I do seem to find time to go on

I LOVE Pinterest!  Ever since my husband started his 2 hour commute each way for work, I've been tasked with doing all the cooking (yes, I was spoiled up till now!).   I think every recipe I've used I've found through Pinterest and so far they have all been great!!!   And it's not just for recipes!  You can find great scrapbooking inspiration, organizational ideas, home decorating, jewelry.... you name it, you can probably find it there.   If you haven't checked it out, you should.  Warning!! It is addictive!!

So you want to be a Nascar Driver...

My husband is a huge Nascar fan.   I think if he could have his dream job, being a race car driver would be second to being a fighter pilot.   So for Christmas, I bought him a Rusty Wallace Racing Experience where he was able to do 15 laps around MoSport Racetrack in Bowmanville, Ontario -- driving an official Nascar race car.   Yesterday was the day and he LOVED it!  One more thing off his bucket list!!  He wanted me to race too, but I was quite happy to be on the sidelines taking pictures!

I don't know what the temperature is like in your neck of the woods, but here in Southern Ontario, it is HOT! HOT! HOT!!!  My husband said that he heard or read somewhere that this has been the hottest summer for us since they started tracking temperatures back in the early 30's!  I believe it!    We have 2 large dogs, live in a 90 year old house without central air, so the picture above adequately reflects how they feel some days!  Thank goodness for window a/c units!   

However, our dog Peanut loves to sit outside on the bench on our back porch and watch the world go by.  This is one of his favourite 'look out' spots!

 

If you are looking for a way to stay cool, Nook Design Team Member, Jennifer Cassista posted this recipe for a cool refreshing drink:

  

Ingredients:
1 (12-ounce) can pink lemonade concentrate
4 cups raspberry sherbet
1 (12-ounce) can of lemon/lime soda (I used Sprite)

Preparation:
1. In a pitcher, mix the lemonade concentrate with the recommended amount of water.


2. In a blender, combine the sherbet with 4 cups of the lemonade mixture; mix until combined. Pour into individual glasses. Add the soda, stir gently and serve.

Wherever you are, I hope you are finding your own ways to stay cool!

I heard from a few people that they didn't get the last email we sent out prior to our Open House on July 7th -- until AFTER the event!!  I'm not sure how that happened, since it was sent out the Thursday before.   Oh well!!  Technology is great, but I guess even it has a bad day sometimes! 

If you missed the Open House, no worries -- we'll be hosting another one in September.

Christmas In July!

I know it's way to early -- and hot! -- to be thinking about Christmas, but Authentique released this beautiful line of Christmas papers -- Festive.   Check out the Authentique BLOG for some inspiration.  I also think this would be great to alter a Maya Road Vintage Memory Box or House Shadow Box and give as a gift.
