The End of Summer...

Today is the last 'unofficial' day of summer!  Tomorrow the kids go back to school and we will be having to watch out for the those yellow school buses and slowing down around school zones.  Wishing all the kids a great first day back to school -- and a great school year!

Did you look forwad to going back to school?   I know I didn't!  I never liked school and always dreaded going back.   Not sure I'd enjoy it any more as an adult either! 

The start of a new school year also means the start of cooler days and nights.   I like the cooler nights!  We live in a 90 year old house and don't have central air, so the cooler nights make for a much better sleep! 

To end our summer, my husband and his best friend did 15 laps around MoSport racetrack in a NASCAR car -- again!!   They had a blast!   The wives each did a 5-lap trip around as a 'ride-along' -- we were the passengers in a NASCAR vehicle with a professional driver behind the wheel.  What an experience that was!  LOTS of fun.  I'm not going to talk about trying to get in and out of the car...   If you have a NASCAR fan in your house, I would highly recommend trying it out.   Just check out Rusty Wallace Racing Experience to see where they will be.

Now we head back to our regular scheduled programming.... :-)

Nook News from Janice!! - August 10th

How do you scrapbook?

  

One of our Design Team members - Jennifer Hottinger-Sloan - asked our message board members the following questions recently: 

1. Are you a clean or messy scrapbooker?

2. Are you a fast or slow scrapbooker?

3. At what time of the day do you do you best work?

4. Right now what is you favourite technique or trend? 

Me?  I'm a very messy scrapbooker, as you can see in this picture...  The more space I have, the messier it gets.  It's kind of hard to tell from that small picture, but I've occupied 4 tables!!

As for the other questions,  I'm a very SLOW scrapbooker.  It can take me days or even weeks to get a layout done sometimes.   I don't know that I have a particular time of day that I work best, but if  had to pick, I'd say afternoons and evenings.  As for techniques, I haven't been playing with many lately, so I don't really have an answer for that.

2012 Olympics  

The 2012 Olympics are underway!  Will you be watching?   I missed the opening ceremonies, but my husband, being a huge James Bond fan, made sure I got to see the Queen being escorted by 'James Bond'.   I may have to go online and check out the rest of the ceremonies.

Life has been pretty busy for me these last few days, so I haven't watched any of the events yet, but maybe I'll get some time this week.    

However, I do seem to find time to go on

I LOVE Pinterest!  Ever since my husband started his 2 hour commute each way for work, I've been tasked with doing all the cooking (yes, I was spoiled up till now!).   I think every recipe I've used I've found through Pinterest and so far they have all been great!!!   And it's not just for recipes!  You can find great scrapbooking inspiration, organizational ideas, home decorating, jewelry.... you name it, you can probably find it there.   If you haven't checked it out, you should.  Warning!! It is addictive!!

So you want to be a Nascar Driver...

My husband is a huge Nascar fan.   I think if he could have his dream job, being a race car driver would be second to being a fighter pilot.   So for Christmas, I bought him a Rusty Wallace Racing Experience where he was able to do 15 laps around MoSport Racetrack in Bowmanville, Ontario -- driving an official Nascar race car.   Yesterday was the day and he LOVED it!  One more thing off his bucket list!!  He wanted me to race too, but I was quite happy to be on the sidelines taking pictures!
